Are My Crystals Real or Fake? How can i tell if my crystals are fake? Do you know where your crystals come from?
With the ever-growing popularity of crystals there is bound to be some undesirable forces. This brings up the dreaded question, is this crystal real or fake. Unfortunately, a large chunk of crystals on the market are fake and it’s not easy to verify authenticity.
Fake crystals are made from glass, plastic and clay like substances. They are shaped and cut in ways to look like the real thing and nine times out of ten the color and design match exactly. Therefore, it’s important to find a good source that you can trust. A red flag to look for is the pricing this is a dead giveaway, if the price is far cheaper than the average market value this means its either fake, made from slave labor or both.
The most popular faked crystal product is the bracelets that everyone has come to know and love. The cost to manufacture one bracelet is about $7.50 US on average, the seller would then factor in overhead costs and price it for about $20.00 US at the absolute cheapest.
China currently manufactures and sells these bracelets for about $ 1.00 US. How can that be possible? Well, they are either fake or made with slave labor, likely both depending on the export region. There are no standard regulations in the crystal industry especially outside of the U.S. In some of the worst cases, children are chained to a wall all day while they string beads.
It doesn’t stop at the bracelets this applies with all crystals. Unfortunately, these fakes have gotten so good that many people cannot tell them apart.
